Exporting test cases
Export one or multiple test cases from a Test Manager project as a TMH file, retaining custom field values, for import into a different project.
Context
You can export your test cases, separately from your testing project, so you can import them back into a different project. The export process for test cases is similar to the project export process. For details, see Export project.
The export only includes custom field values and not their definitions.
There is no native option to export selected test cases directly to Excel. The export always produces a TMH file. To get Excel output, build a custom automation using the Test Manager API.
Steps
- Open your project and navigate to Test Cases.
- Depending on the number of test cases you want to export, select one of the following options:
- To export a single test case, select More Options for the specific test case and then select Export.
- To export multiple test cases, select all the test cases you want to export, and then select Export.
- When the export is ready, you receive a Project export completed notification. Select the notification to download the TMH file containing the exported test cases.
You can then import the downloaded TMH file into a different project, to re-create all exported objects there. For details, see Import project.
Result
The exported test cases are saved as a TMH file, which you can import into a different Test Manager project.
