Configuring artifact capture for Playwright tests
Enable screenshots, videos, or traces on Playwright test results in Test Manager by updating your project's playwright.config.ts.
This capability is in controlled availability, delivered only to eligible tenants. It is available in Test Manager only when delivered through Test Cloud.
Get screenshots, videos, or traces to appear on your Playwright test results in Test Manager, if they aren't showing up by default. For why this configuration lives in your project rather than in Test Manager, see How Playwright artifact capture works.
Prerequisites
- A Playwright automation already selected for a test case. See Selecting automation.
- At least one execution already attempted.
Steps
-
Open the project's
playwright.config.ts. -
Add or update the
use:block to enable the artifact type you want, for example:use: { trace: 'on' }use: { trace: 'on' }Replace
tracewithscreenshotorvideoas needed. -
Repackage the project. See Packaging Playwright projects for Test Manager.
-
Republish the package to Orchestrator.
-
Run the test again.
Result
The next execution includes the newly enabled artifact type, visible on the execution's Attempts and Trace tabs.
