Enabling recording of test executions
Enable recording of automated executions at the test set or test execution level.
Turn on recording for a test set or a single test execution, and choose to keep all recordings or only those of failed executions.
Prerequisites
Recording needs Orchestrator and is available on Test Cloud commercial, public sector, and dedicated. The permissions that recording requires are listed in Video recording of automated executions.
Enabling recording at test set level
The recording setting of a test set is carried over to its test executions, where you can manage it further.
Steps
- Navigate to Test Sets.
- Select a test set, and then select the Configuration tab.
- Toggle on Record automated execution.
- Under Recording type, select one of the options: Record and store failed executions (for 14 days) or Record all executions (for 7 days).
Result
Recording of automated executions is enabled for the test set, using the recording type you selected.
Enabling recording at test execution level
Enabling recording on a single test execution is useful for scenarios like Pending executions or re-executions.
Steps
- Navigate to Execution.
- Open an execution for which you want to have recording enabled.
- In the Settings tab, toggle on Record automated execution.
- Under Recording type, select one of the options: Record and store failed executions (for 14 days) or Record all executions (for 7 days).
Tip:
We recommend that you enable Record all jobs for a brief amount of time so as to observe potentially odd behavior during job execution. You can then switch to only recording and storing failed jobs in order to efficiently use bandwidth and storage.
Result
Recording of automated executions is enabled for the test execution, using the recording type you selected.
